The Pechaka mandala
With Pechaka the series takes its first cut: one line each way, four equal padas. The quarters carry the first directional reading — a point now belongs to the north-east quarter or the south-west, not merely to the site — and the simplicity is the value: four cells leave no room for ambiguity about where something stands.
The grid and its centre
The tool draws the two-by-two grid over your plan at your north angle. The four grid lines meet at the exact centre, so no Brahma cell is marked on this mandala — the practice records reserve marked Brahma cells for the grids of three and above, and the result states that honestly. A tapped point is read by its pada, its quarter's direction and its distance from the central crossing.
How practitioners use this
Practitioners use Pechaka for coarse zoning questions that a finer grid would only complicate: which quarter of a small plot should carry the built mass, which quarter of a room should hold the heaviest furniture, which quarter of a shop front the entry favours. It is the quickest honest answer to "which side of the site is this on?"
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no Brahma cell on this grid?
The centre of Pechaka is a point where four padas meet, not a cell; marked Brahma cells begin with the three-by-three grid.
Are the four padas tied to directions?
Each quarter faces its corner of the sky once your north angle is set, and the reading names that quarter.
Is Pechaka too coarse for a whole house?
For a full dwelling the finer grids carry more; Pechaka shines on small sites, single rooms and first-pass decisions.
Free to read, licensed to run
This page is open to every reader in English and Hindi, so the Pechaka mandala can be studied freely. The interactive calculator — which lays the grid over your own plan at your north angle and reads any point you tap — runs with the Practitioner licence.
