Marma Sthana (32 points)

Marma Sthana locates the thirty-two sensitive intersection points the classical Vastu tradition marks on the eight-by-eight pada grid, so a practitioner can see exactly where they fall on a real floor plan.

Points where the grid is tender

The classical Vastu tradition reads the dwelling as a living diagram, and on that diagram certain crossings of the grid lines are treated as sensitive — the marma sthana. On the eight-by-eight layout of sixty-four padas, thirty-two such intersection points are marked, in graded categories: the most sensitive points, the joint points, and the milder sub-sensitive ones. The working principle is restraint: these crossings are kept free of heavy, piercing or polluting loads.

What the tool computes

The tool lays the eight-by-eight grid over your plan at your north angle, draws all thirty-two points with their category, and reads any point you tap: the nearest marma, its grade, and the distance in grid cells. When the centre is nearer than any marma, it says so — the centre is its own consideration, not a thirty-third point. The classical basis for each category appears with the result.

How practitioners use this

Marma checking belongs to two moments. At design time, practitioners move columns, beam lines, staircases and heavy storage off the marked crossings while the drawing is still cheap to change. In an existing house, they walk the plan point by point, note what currently sits over each sensitive crossing, and write a graded findings list into the client report under their own name.

Frequently asked questions

Why exactly thirty-two points?

That is the set the practice records mark on the sixty-four-pada layout; the tool draws what the records give and quotes them, adding nothing.

What counts as a load on a point?

The tradition's concern is weight and disturbance directly over the crossing — structural members and heavy fixtures more than furniture that can move.

Are all thirty-two equally serious?

No; the categories are graded, and the reading names the grade so attention goes first where the tradition puts it.
