Plot shape

Plot shape matches your plot against the catalogue of named classical shapes — square, rectangle and the many irregular forms — and reads each shape's traditional classification.

The ground has a shape, and the shape has a name

Long before a wall rises, the classical Vastu tradition reads the outline of the land itself. It keeps a catalogue of named shapes: the perfect square as the supreme form, the well-proportioned rectangle beside it, and then the long roll of irregular forms — tapering, winged, cart-shaped, drum-shaped and others — each named, each classified from highly auspicious to discouraged, each with a described effect on the household.

How the tool reads your plot

Describe your plot — sides, angles, extensions or cuts — and the tool matches it to the nearest entries in the catalogue, reporting the shape's name, its classification and the traditional account of its influence, including which direction an extension or a cut falls in, since the same irregularity reads differently by direction. The classical basis appears with each result, quoted from the practice's source records.

How to use this tool

Take the measurements from your plot document or survey sketch and enter them. For an irregular plot, note where it departs from a rectangle — which corner is cut, which side extends. If you are choosing between plots, read each one here, then put the finalists through the Plot buying checker and Compare properties tools.

FAQ

Q. My plot is a trapezium. Is it rejected outright? No shape is a verdict by itself; the reading gives the classification and the direction-specific account, which differ case by case.

Q. Can a cut corner be worked with? The tradition treats some cuts as serious and some as minor, by direction; the result says which yours is.

Q. Does size matter, or only shape? This tool reads proportion and form; sizes enter through the measurement tools.
